About Desert Bloom Montessori School

Welcome! It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we announce the opening of Desert Bloom Montessori School, located in the northeast part of El Paso and set inside Grace Presbyterian Church, (no religious affiliation) on the corner of  Magnetic and Titanic streets. We are now open for registration and enrollment for school year 2023-2024.

It is a dream come true to be able to invite children ages 3 to 5 to our new micro-school to experience a school culture where their natural interests and curiosity are allowed to lead them on a joyful journey of discovery and growth.

The school’s name pays tribute to our beautiful desert region and its natural and unique beauty.  The right combination of natural elements allows splendid plants and flowers to bloom across our desert and lovely mountains.  In the same way, children are born with natural gifts within them that need the right conditions to blossom and grow.  Dr. Maria Montessori, physician, educator, scientist and founder of the Montessori movement discovered through her research that the first six years of life are the most important in a child’s development. She carefully designed classroom materials that would optimize the development of not just academic skills, but also their physical abilities as well as their social, emotional, and moral character.

While a Montessori education is widely known as an approach that promotes freedom of movement, free choice, and self-directed learning, it also has a rich history of proven success over a period of more than 100 years and follows a rigorous academic curriculum which is still endorsed and is continually being validated by educational experts of today.

I have been privileged to see the joy with which children work and learn in such an environment, both as a Montessori mom and teacher.  They become confident, self-disciplined, and knowledgeable students who also demonstrate compassion, cooperation, and high self-esteem.  I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to offer a new Montessori preschool to the community and sincerely hope to be welcoming you and your child soon.

Sincerely,
Rosi Soto

About Our Program and Curriculum

Primary Program

The primary program we offer is for children ages 3 to 6 and is part of what Dr. Maria Montessori called the first plane of development, a period of time when children seek to develop physical and psychological independence. This is a period of development for coordinated movement, language, a sense of order, concentration and refinement of their five senses.

Curriculum

The Montessori classroom and curriculum are carefully prepared to meet specific needs and children learn primarily hands on through concrete materials and experiences. The curriculum is made up of 5 areas: Practical Life Activities, Sensorial exercises, Mathematics, Language Arts, and Cultural Activities.
